Simon Payn: Hi. My name is Simon. I am the president of Ready to Go Newsletters.

I've come outside today because I wanted to answer an important question that I get about email newsletters, particularly from people who are thinking of signing up with Ready to Go Newsletters. They ask, "Should I use a third-party service, or should I send the newsletters myself?"

There are several ways to send emails. I'll start by talking about what I consider to be the best way.

For my service, I've partnered with Vertical Response, which is an email service provider. Vertical Response’s sole function is to send out email newsletters for you. There are many other companies, but Vertical Response is the one I am primarily partnered with because they provide a quality infrastructure and excellent customer service.

Now, the benefit of using them is that it's their sole purpose, as I say, to send out your newsletters. They will work very hard to get your newsletters delivered.

The way they do that is by building good relationships with Internet service providers, who are the people who deliver your email. It might be Comcast. It might be Hotmail. It might be Gmail, for example.

Vertical Response builds good relationships with Internet service providers because they know that emails that come from Vertical Response are not likely to be spam, and the emails have a better chance of getting delivered. That is one of the main reasons for using a third-party software system such as Vertical Response.

Secondly, by using Vertical Response, you'll get tracking of how well your emails perform. You'll find out how many get delivered, how many bounce, and how many have been opened. You can also track the links people click on in your newsletter, which is, of course, very valuable for assessing how well your marketing efforts are doing.

The third thing is that they help you comply with anti-spam best practices. Particularly in the United States, one of the important things to know about are the CAN-SPAM laws, and there are certain things you must do to comply with them. One of the rules is putting a link in the bottom of your email that allows people to unsubscribe from your newsletter. Companies like Vertical Response and others will do that for you.

So, I recommend that you use them to send out your newsletter. It means you have to upload your mailing list to them, but they will manage that for you.

I'm partnered with Vertical Response, but you can also use my newsletters with other systems such as AWeber, Infusionsoft and Constant Contact, and I can help you with that.

If you don't want to use one of these systems, you can still send the newsletter out yourself. Perhaps you have already invested in another kind of marketing system. If so, I provide the HTML newsletter templates, and what you can do with those is paste them into your own newsletter system. Now, every system works in a different way, so I can't guarantee exactly how that might work for you, but I will try to help you as much as I can.

So, my answer is, ideally, use an email service provider such as Vertical Response. You'll get better results that way, and you'll be able to track your marketing better. You can, however, send the newsletters out in other ways, if you wish.
